The Gibraltar Insurance Association last week held a welcome reception at My Wines for Michael Ashton, recently arrived Senior Executive in Government’s Finance Centre.
As the representative body of the insurance industry in Gibraltar, and with a responsibility for promoting the domicile, the GIA will be working closely with Mr. Ashton, and the event allowed GIA members to meet him and share their views on strategy and marketing of their industry.
GIA will be engaging in more discussions of a less informal nature with the Finance Centre, and looking to work closely with Government to capitalise on the success insurance has already had as part of Gibraltar’s Finance sector.
Michael is no stranger to Gibraltar, having been instrumental in setting up the Ace Gibraltar operation in 2000, and was also involved in a local insurance operation.
Chris Johnson, Chairman of GIA, said “We are enthused with Government’s renewed commitment to raising Gibraltar’s positive profile in the insurance arena, evidenced by Mike’s appointment and the promise of allocation of resources. We have strengthened our internal strategy team and look forward to a very fruitful partnership with him”
Mr. Ashton said “I’m delighted to be back in Gibraltar and have already seen a vibrant industry that I look forward to working with”
